Project overview

As part of a major upgrade to the sporting complex ahead of the AFL Gather Round in South Australia, The Barossa Council and The State Government sought a cost-effective and efficient solution to establish high-quality turf across extensive areas. While instant lawn was used in select sections, applying the same method throughout was not financially feasible.

To ensure the venue was event-ready on time, hydroseeding was selected as the preferred method – offering rapid establishment, uniform coverage, and a budget-conscious alternative to instant turf.

ecoDynamics’ role

ecoDynamics was engaged to supply and apply hydroseeding across 13,000m² of the complex, ensuring optimal growth within the tight time frame. Key to the project’s success was:

●      Enhanced seeding techniques – Nearly doubling the standard seed application rate to accelerate germination.

●      Precision application – Using controlled hose techniques around concrete structures and pathways to prevent overspray.

●      Irrigation integration – Leveraging the venue’s existing irrigation system to promote healthy, even turf growth.

●      Visual consistency – Managing dye colour application for a uniform, professional finish.
