Lake Eppalock Caravan Park Soil Rehabilitation Hydromulching Project
Discover how ecoDynamics revived tired soils at Lake Eppalock Caravan Park using ProGanics®—a sustainable solution for long-lasting turf restoration and improved soil health.
About the Lake Eppalock Caravan Park rehabilitation hydromulching project
Lake Eppalock Holiday Park faced a common but persistent challenge – poor, rocky, and nutrient-depleted soils that made turf establishment and maintenance nearly impossible.
Engaged by Lake Eppalock Holiday Park, ecoDynamics trialled a forward-thinking solution using ProGanics® Biotic Soil Media (BSM). This is an engineered topsoil alternative designed to regenerate soil health and accelerate turf growth without the need for invasive renovations.
Rather than disrupting the compacted and rocky ground with traditional turf renovation methods, we applied hydromulching in combination with a custom caravan park seed blend (Kikuyu and perennial rye). This method offered a non-invasive, eco-conscious solution with long-term benefits.
Why ecoDynamics?
The client was ready to trial new methods, and we brought the vision and solutions to match. Our ability to provide tailored advice, foster strong partnerships, and introduce innovative techniques set us apart. We collaborated closely with the holiday/caravan park team to understand their site-specific needs and their goal – to have the site ready for peak camping season by September.
By identifying the limitations of the existing soil and offering ProGanics® as an advanced solution, we opened the door to better performance, healthier turf, and improved environmental outcomes.
What made this project stand out?
-
Innovative approach
Instead of traditional, disruptive renovation methods, we introduced an engineered soil media that works with the land, not against it.

Environmental impact
Improving turf coverage will enhance the overall experience for visitors and increase biodiversity and wildlife activity across the site.
-
New market opportunity
This project breaks new ground for ecoDynamics, extending our capabilities into the caravan park and holiday tourism space.
-
Strong collaboration
Our partnership with PGG Wrightson Seeds played a pivotal role in developing a high-performance seed blend suitable for harsh conditions.

Insights from the team
“Our customer reached out looking for new ways to repair heavily degraded, rocky soils without turning the soil over. ProGanics® offered exactly that – a non-disruptive solution that increases soil health and supports turf establishment. This was a rewarding project because it challenged us to think differently and open a new space where we can create real impact. We’re excited to share updates in the coming weeks as the turf continues to establish.” — Daniel Smith, Sales Manager, Mulch and Services
This project highlights ecoDynamics’ commitment to environmental innovation, customer collaboration, and high-quality landscaping outcomes – even in the most challenging conditions.
The progress so far
-
Before works
1 May 2025
Dry, compacted soil with excessive rock made the area impossible to rip or prepare traditionally.
-
Works commenced
11 June 2025
Proganics® Dual applied in cold conditions (below 10°C). Despite poor soil quality, the mix delivered nutrients and structure for germination.
-
Germination
3 July 2025
Early signs of germination within just 3 weeks — a strong start given the low temperatures.
-
Green coverage
14 August 2025
After 8 weeks, vegetation exceeded 90% coverage. Despite 50mm+ rainfall overnight, Proganics® Dual protected the seed and prevented erosion — leaving the site stable and thriving.
