Lake Eppalock Caravan Park soil rehabilitation project

Project overview

Lake Eppalock Holiday Park faced a common but persistent challenge – poor, rocky, and nutrient-depleted soils that made turf establishment and maintenance nearly impossible.

ecoDynamics was engaged to trial a forward-thinking solution using ProGanics® Biotic Soil Media (BSM) – an engineered topsoil alternative designed to regenerate soil health and accelerate turf growth without the need for invasive renovations.

Rather than disrupting the compacted and rocky ground with traditional turf renovation methods, we applied hydromulching in combination with a custom caravan park seed blend (Kikuyu and perennial rye). This method offered a non-invasive, eco-conscious solution with long-term benefits.

Why ecoDynamics?

The customer was ready to trial new methods, and we brought the vision and solutions to match. Our ability to provide tailored advice, foster strong partnerships, and introduce innovative techniques set us apart. We collaborated closely with the holiday park team to understand their site-specific needs and their goal: to have the site ready for peak camping season by September.

By identifying the limitations of the existing soil and offering ProGanics as an advanced solution, we opened the door to better performance, healthier turf, and improved environmental outcomes.

What made this project stand out?

  • Innovative approach

Instead of traditional, disruptive renovation methods, we introduced an engineered soil media that works with the land, not against it.

  • Environmental impact

Improving turf coverage will enhance the overall experience for visitors and increase biodiversity and wildlife activity across the site.

  • New market opportunity

This project breaks new ground for ecoDynamics, extending our capabilities into the caravan park and holiday tourism space.

  • Strong collaboration

Our partnership with PGG Wrightson Seeds played a pivotal role in developing a high-performance seed blend suitable for harsh conditions.

Insights from the team

“Our customer reached out looking for new ways to repair heavily degraded, rocky soils without turning the soil over. ProGanics offered exactly that – a non-disruptive solution that increases soil health and supports turf establishment. This was a rewarding project because it challenged us to think differently and open a new space where we can create real impact. We’re excited to share updates in the coming weeks as the turf continues to establish.” — Daniel Smith, Sales Manager, Mulch and Services
