Identified as one of Melbourne’s most dangerous and congested level crossings, the Grange Rd level crossing was removed and the existing railway line lowered in late 2018.
Working closely with North West Program Alliance during the construction phase, the team focused on feedback received from local residents during the community consultation period in finalising design. Suggestions from locals included preservation of visual amenity and vegetation, and improved connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists. Ecodynamics were engaged to construct both the hard and soft scaping elements
for the Grange Rd Level Crossing removal project, including installation of street furniture and defensive bollards and extensive planting along Wingrove Street. Installation of decking and native trees and plants have created a brand new public open space at Ravenscourt Place.
