About the Fleurieu Connections hydroseeding project
Fleurieu Connections, led by the Fleurieu Connections Alliance (FCA), focused on landscaping efforts along the Main South Road and Victor Harbor Road Duplications. The aim was to implement eco-friendly practices that not only beautified the area but also promoted biodiversity and ecosystem restoration.
In selecting plant species, the project prioritised species requiring minimal maintenance and watering, ensuring sustainability while enhancing the natural habitat. This approach not only improved the visual appeal of the road corridors but also contributed to the long-term health and resilience of the local ecosystem.

Aboriginal collaboration
The SA Landscaping team also collaborated with Allan Sumner, a local Aboriginal Artist and managing director of Aboriginal Contemporary Arts.
Together, we developed a rest node, providing a space for cyclist and walkers to pause and reflect on the Aboriginal (particularly Kaurna) heritage for the community. The rest nodes incorporate unique features such as fish sculptures that have been designed to sway gracefully in the breeze, symbolising the significance of local aquatic life as a vital food source for the traditional Kaurna community.
Scope of work
ecoDynamics SA Landscaping team used a mixture of tube stock plants, trees and shrubs. It also hydroseeded native and exotic grasses that required low maintenance and watering. Additionally, erosion protection measures were included such as jute matting and reno mattresses that would safeguard against soil degradation and ensure a sustainable and resilient environment.
