Two Wells Levee Bank Hydromulching Project

About Two Wells Levee hydromulching project

ecoDynamics SA Landscaping was engaged with the Two Wells Levee bank revegetation project due to our proven track record with Adelaide Plains Council on previous hydromulching works. Our history of delivering successful landscape outcomes made us the trusted choice for this new challenge.

What made this project unique was the complexity of revegetating a highly compacted levee bank with a heavy clay base—without compromising the structural purpose of the levee. We provided innovative, cost-effective methods to promote plant growth in this difficult environment, offering tailored solutions that others in the industry could not.

Our experience allowed us to offer valuable alternatives, including the use of spray-on topsoil and specialised batter stabilisation products, helping the client overcome significant site limitations and tight budget constraints.

What makes this project stand out?

This project marks the first stage of a larger levee revegetation effort. What sets it apart is the strategic collaboration between ecoDynamics and the client to trial and determine the most effective application methods for long-term success.

    Key innovations:

    • ProGanics® application – a spray-on topsoil that significantly reduced costs.
    • Flexterra® usage – a batter stabilisation product, alongside standard woodfibre mulches.
    • Locally sourced native seed – ensuring ecological alignment and promoting sustainable growth.

While environmental outcomes are ongoing, early indicators point to strong establishment. The combination of product choices and application strategies has set a high standard for the project’s next stages.

Products and services used

  • Hydromulching
  • Revegetation services
  • Spray-on topsoil: ProGanics®
  • Batter stabilisation products: Flexterra®, Standard Woodfibre
  • Materials supplier: PGG Wrightson Turf
  • Seed: locally sourced native seed mix.

Scope of work

  • Hydromulching the levee bank using native seeds.
  • Supplying and installing ProGanics® spray-on topsoil.
  • Applying batter stabilisation using Flexterra® and woodfibre mulch.

Project scale

  • 3,000 m² of ProGanics® applied
  • 1,600 m² of Flexterra®
  • 1,400 m² of standard woodfibre mulch.

These services were delivered with techniques tailored to the compacted and challenging terrain, ensuring vegetation could establish while preserving the structural integrity of the levee.

Project insights

The client needed a low-impact, cost-effective way to revegetate a newly established levee bank. Their budget was limited, so we proposed the use of spray-on topsoil, saving them approximately $20–30K. We also identified a more affordable approach for batter stabilisation, delivering an additional $5–10K in savings. Working closely with the client, we selected a high-performing local seed mix to ensure long-term ecological success.

This project was a strong example of how innovation, cost-conscious solutions, and collaborative planning can deliver real, lasting outcomes.
