What’s the difference between hydroseeding and hydromulching?
Though the terms are often used interchangeably, there’s a key difference.
-
Hydroseeding
Hydroseeding is the spray-on application of water, seed, and fertiliser to prepared soil. It’s best suited to large, flat areas with good topsoil and access to irrigation, promoting fast and even germination.
-
Hydromulching
Hydromulching is similar to hydroseeding but includes an added mulch component – usually fibre-based – for better erosion control, moisture retention, and seed protection. It’s ideal for slopes, exposed soils, or areas prone to wind or heavy rain.
