ecoDynamics Mulch commitment to quality assurance
Epping, 2024 – ecoDynamics Mulch, a leader in sustainable timber waste management, reaffirms its dedication to quality assurance as it addresses recent concerns regarding asbestos contamination in mulch products. With a legacy spanning over 50 years in processing timber waste into recycled mulch, ecoDynamics Mulch remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering safe and reliable products to its customers.
Considering recent events regarding asbestos incidents in parks within Hobsons Bay City Council, ecoDynamics Mulch wishes to assure the public of its stringent policies and procedures in place to uphold the highest standards of safety and quality.
ecoDynamics Mulch operates under a comprehensive set of policies and procedures to ensure the acceptance of only compliant timber materials. This includes the ecoDynamics Guideline Accepting Timber, which outlines the criteria for acceptable timber materials (view by clicking on the button below).
Over a decade ago, we recognised the potential contamination risks tied to construction and demolition waste, prompting us to cease accepting such materials. Instead, our mulch is meticulously crafted from a blend of pallets, single-use timber packaging, manufacturing offcuts, and hardwood timber fencing materials, ensuring both environmental responsibility and product quality.
Furthermore, the company implements a range of internal procedures and policies to guarantee the quality of its mulch products:
- Establishment of standards for timber acceptance and assessment
- Implementation of an Asbestos Management Plan
- Draft of an Asbestos Risk Management and Monitoring Policy
- Conducts asbestos awareness training for all mulch production employees
- Conducts annual mulch testing to AS4422 Playground Surfacing specifications, with current test validity until June 2024
- Test mulch quarterly to AS4454 Composts, Soil Conditioner, and Mulch standards
- Prensa Hygiene Report for Nominated Mulch Products at ecoDynamics Mulch, 480 Cooper Street, Epping, dated 3 April 2024.
It is important to note that ecoDynamics Mulch exclusively utilises virgin pine chip, directly sourced from timber mills, in the production of softfall mulch for playgrounds. No recycled timber is incorporated into the softfall production process, ensuring the highest level of safety for playground environments.
