Red Cliffs Point Lookout Hydromulching
About Red Cliffs Point Lookout Hydromulching Project
Melbourne Landscape Group engaged ecoDynamics to provide a fast, reliable solution to a growing erosion concern at the Red Cliffs Point Lookout in Werribee South. The steep riverbank was at risk due to ongoing erosion and potential flooding, putting both the landscape and surrounding native seed mix under pressure.
To deliver the most effective outcome, ecoDynamics partnered with PGG Wrightson Turf and Duraveg to design a highly resilient erosion control approach for the challenging slope. Together, we applied Flexterra HP-FGM — a high-performance hydraulically applied mulch ideal for extreme erosion conditions. Flexterra provides up to 18 months of protection and performs exceptionally during heavy rainfall, on steep batters, and even under partial submersion.
The project was complex from the outset. We were tasked with stabilising the slope, ensuring long-term erosion control, and safeguarding native seed germination despite forecasted weather impacts. Prior to commencement, our team met with the client to confirm targets, challenges, and a tight delivery timeline. This alignment ensured ecoDynamics and partners were the clear choice to achieve the project’s environmental and structural goals.
Products & services used

- Custom Native Dry Seed Mix (as per ecoDynamics specifications)
- Erosion control services
Our scope of work
ecoDynamics was responsible for delivering a complete erosion control solution that supported native seed germination and long-term slope stability.
Key project specifications:
- 600 m² treated
- Flexterra applied at 4,000 kg/ha
- Custom native seed blend applied
- Project completed within a 14-day turnaround from first contact to final application

“This was an incredibly important project because of the steep batter, erosion risk, and the tight delivery window. Getting the solution right mattered. Despite more than 50mm of rain on the night of application, the Flexterra system performed exactly as expected. Seeing the slope hold firm and the erosion control remain stable confirmed just how successful the approach was.” — Daniel Smith
What made this project stand out
Collaborative, expert partnership:
Working closely with PGG Wrightson Turf and Duraveg ensured the correct product selection, application rate, and seed blend for a site requiring high performance under pressure.
Smart product choice:
Flexterra HP-FGM proved to be the ideal solution, offering superior erosion control throughout challenging weather events.
Environmental alignment:
The native flora mix was carefully matched to the site conditions and approved collaboratively by all parties.
Weather-resilient delivery:
Despite rainfall on the day of application — and more than 50mm of rain that evening — the Flexterra system held strong, validating its reliability on steep, erosion-prone slopes.
The project demonstrates ecoDynamics’ ability to deliver fast, effective erosion solutions — even in time-sensitive and weather-affected conditions.
