ecoDynamics Becomes B Corp Certified: Leading the Charge in Sustainable Mulch Production

We’re excited to share that ecoDynamics has officially achieved B Corp Certification! This certification emphasises our commitment to social and environmental responsibility and aligns perfectly with our vision of creating Greener futures. A key part of this journey involves our dedication to producing high-quality mulches from recycled timber.

You might wonder why mulch is so important in landscaping. Well, it’s essential for keeping soil moist, suppressing pesky weeds, and adding that finishing touch to garden aesthetics. At ecoDynamics, we’re all about sustainability, focusing on creating mulches made from recycled timber.

Our recycled timber mulches are sourced from various reclaimed materials, such as hardwood fences, pallets, crates, and framing offcuts. This timber often has limited reuse options and might otherwise end up in a landfill. By transforming this waste into mulch, we’re not only helping the environment but also reducing waste!

With over 30 years of experience in the industry, ecoDynamics has been a pioneer in turning waste timber into valuable garden products. Our journey began with the realisation of how much potential there is in recycled timber. Over time, we’ve evolved our product range to meet different needs, even introducing coloured mulches. We use eco-friendly dyes in shades of red, brown, and black to create mulches that look great while performing their essential functions.

By offering coloured mulches, we’re not only reducing the demand for native timbers but also expanding the market for recycled products. This innovation shows our commitment to sustainability while keeping our customers’ preferences in mind. We want to create solutions that are kind to the environment and beautiful in gardens.

Our process of recycling timber waste into high-quality mulch products involves sourcing from various channels, like production processes, single-use timber packaging, and hardwood fencing. We operate across two facilities in Melbourne, where we carefully sort incoming materials to remove contaminants like plastic and paper. Our quality process begins at the gate, rejecting poor quality or contaminated materials and then inspecting every load as it is unloaded after inspection, the timber is ground, screened, and coloured to produce a wide range of mulch products.

Our processing facilities are equipped with advanced machinery that helps us efficiently handle the grinding, screening, and colouring processes, ensuring we meet the diverse needs of landscaping projects. The process includes equipment that removes metals such as nails and any plastics that find their way into the process. We market our mulch products under the Mossrock Mulch brand, and you can find more details on our website.

These mulch products aren’t just pretty; they’re practical too! They’re used in various landscaping projects, from infrastructure developments to public parks and residential gardens. Thanks to our streamlined processes, we achieve a 100% recovery rate of timber resources, diverting waste materials into valuable secondary products.

And here’s another cool fact: we prioritise environmental responsibility by recovering steel components – like nails and metal imports – found in the timber. In 2022, we recycled an impressive 87 tonnes of steel from our mulch processing operations. That’s a big step towards sustainable resource management!

As a newly certified B Corp, ecoDynamics is thrilled to continue our mission of cultivating a greener future through innovative recycling practices and quality mulch production. We’re not just about growing landscapes; we’re about creating a healthier planet for everyone. So, let’s work together to promote sustainability and responsible land management – one scoop of mulch at a time!
