ecoDynamics Becomes B Corp Certified: What This Means for Our Communities
We’re excited to share that ecoDynamics is now officially B Corp certified! This is a huge step for us and reflects our commitment to doing business in a way that benefits people and the planet, not just profits. Across Australia, we work within local communities, employing local talent, partnering with local suppliers, and giving back wherever we can. Our motto of “think globally, act locally” drives us every day, and this certification really puts a stamp on our efforts.
So, what exactly is B Corp certification? It’s about holding businesses accountable for their social and environmental impact. One of the key areas in the certification is the Community pillar, which looks at how a company interacts with the local areas where it operates, hires, and sources from. In our case, we’re proud that our workforce reflects Australia’s diversity – we employ people from disadvantaged backgrounds, have a range of ages represented, and have a higher proportion of female employees than industry standards. We actively support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) by understanding who makes up our workforce and creating flexible opportunities, especially for women returning to work or balancing parenting.
Our Grassroots Impact Program is another way we give back. We focus on projects that benefit the community, especially youth, and green urban spaces. This lines up with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 11, which is all about creating sustainable cities and communities. Through this, we help reduce things like the urban heat island effect (making cities cooler) and ensure that green public spaces are safe and accessible for everyone.
One of our standout initiatives is Greening the West. This project aims to double the tree canopy in western Melbourne by 2050 to improve liveability and climate resilience. Our nursery, which operates as a social enterprise, has donated over 66,000 trees in the last five years alone! In 2024 and 2025, we’ll also be helping schools green their spaces and researching how this impacts children’s health and wellbeing.
We’re also proud of our partnership with Polyglot Theatre and their production When the World Turns. For the past two years, we’ve supported over 15 weeks of shows, providing 10,000 plants for each show to create an incredible, immersive set w. This has given over 1,000 children from specialist schools in Victoria the chance to experience theatre in a magical green landscape. The show’s impact was recognised with the PAC Australia IMPACT Award in 2024 for its lasting contributions to the community.
We can’t talk about our success without mentioning our suppliers. Many of these relationships have been built over years, and we’re proud to work alongside them, supporting their growth and encouraging sustainable business practices.
At the end of the day, ecoDynamics has always been about more than just profit. We’re here to make a difference and being B Corp Certified has given us the chance to measure and improve how we do that. We’re excited to continue making a positive impact through our work, community engagement, and environmental stewardship, and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes us next.
