Innovative landscape design creates a new public realm
Affectionately dubbed Skyrail, the elevation of the Caulfield to Dandenong railway line in Melbourne’s south-east has created an entirely new public realm.
In a space once dedicated to railway tracks, elevating the line has not only resulted in halving traffic congestion times, but has opened up 11 football fields worth of space as well as 17 kilometres of walking and cycling paths.
17 kilometres of walking and cycling paths were created during construction
Our crew installed various street furniture along the length of the project
Hardscaping included the installation of nature play elements
New community spaces have been constructed as part of the project, like this one underneath Carnegie Station
Hardscaping and softscaping skills prove pivotal
Ecodynamics were contracted to build sections 1B, 2 and 3 of the linear parks underneath Skyrail, creating vital new public spaces.
In total, our team built approximately 5 kilometres of new parklands, including the planting of indigenous seedlings and mature trees, hydroseeding, hardscaping and earthworks.
