Hoppers Crossing LCRP Landscaping Project
See how ecoDynamics revitalised Hoppers Crossing with smart, sustainable landscaping—turning transport infrastructure into greener, safer community spaces.
About the Hoppers Crossing Level Crossing Removal Project (LCRP) landscaping project
As part of the Western Program Alliance (WPA), Wamarra engaged ecoDynamics VIC Landscaping team to undertake the landscaping work on the Hoppers Crossing LCRP.
Under the WPA Hoppers LCRP plan, it was stipulated that for each tree removed, two new trees would be planted in its place. To fulfil this commitment, our landscaping team worked closely with our Victorian Nursery to propagate a diverse selection of plants, shrubs, and grasses, ensuring we met the environmental and aesthetic goals of the level crossing removal plan.
Our Victorian Nursery grew the majority of the plants needed for the project, and outsourced Swale for the hybrid varieties. At both ends of the pedestrian overpass, we designed and landscaped the new plaza areas, incorporating a diverse mix of native an exotic plant species. This section included drought-tolerant plants such as Lomandra, Poa and Carex. These species were chosen for their ability to thrive in local conditions and their contribution to the visual appeal of the surrounding area.
The Woody Meadow project
As part of the Old Geelong Road, Hoppers Crossing LCRP, ecoDynamics collaborated with The University of Melbourne to create the Woody Meadow at the new station. During the soft landscaping phase of this project, Melbourne University and Wyndham City Council engaged our team, under the WPA, to help bring to life the Woody Meadow.
